Trump's Attacks on DeSantis are Getting Ugly
Trump hits a new low with this vile personal attack against Ron DeSantis. This egomaniacal bastard will bring us another 4 years of Biden’s disastrous presidency because clearly his bruised ego is more important than the good of this country . His shenanigans are not going to work on DeSantis the way it worked on Cruz and the other GOP candidates in 2016. There’s too much at stake now and DeSantis is extremely popular among conservatives. If Trump is the Republican nominee I will hold my nose and vote for him. But I will not be supporting him in the primaries. DeSantis will be getting my vote. He may have done a good job as president, but the baggage he carries with him isn’t worth it. We now have a number of Republicans with great policies who can also be fighters, but without Trump’s baggage.
The trashing of DeSantis also begins within the Trump camp. I knew Gorka wasn't going to hold out much longer in tearing down DeSantis. That's what all of Trump's lackeys are expected to do to prove their loyalty. At some point Seb was going to have to choose sides and attack DeSantis to stay in Trump's good graces. DeSantis has done far more of substance to push back against the cultural Marxists then Trump could ever hope to do. Trump is all bluster. You can either win in '24 or maintain blind loyalty to Trump.
DeSantis isn't trying to "take" Trump's job from him. Trump is not the president. He's merely a candidate right now and he's not entitled to the nomination. It's up for grabs. From my perspective, DeSantis has a better chance of winning the general election. He was able to win over democrat voters, no way will Trump do that. DeSantis has proven himself a winner and has earned the right to run. As for Desantis "owing" Trump, Trump had no part in his reelection, that was all DeSantis' by doing a great job as governor.
If you give Trump credit for DeSantis first gubernatorial election victory, then you have to blame him for the GOP losses in both 2018 and 2022 midterms. They want to have it both ways, but it doesn't work that way. Also, DeSantis reelection victory had nothing to do with Trump, he won it on his own merit. He doesn't owe Trump anything anymore.
Let's be honest. Trump is not going to win the general election. He hasn't won an election since 2016. Under his leadership the GOP failed in both midterms.
Did Trump put the mayor of Miami up to “running” for president? Trump is threatened by DeSantis. He can’t directly attack him without alienating conservatives. So, Miami’s mayor will be his proxy to attack and attempt to take down DeSantis. Suarez has no actual interest in running for president in my opinion. Trump’s sleezy underhanded tactics only puts me further in DeSantis’ corner. Here we go again like he did in 2016 against Ted Cruz. I don’t have a problem with Trump running if he sticks to issues and his own record. But if he does anything to damage DeSantis’ future by his character assassinations, that would be unforgivable. Trump should abide by his own motto of putting America first. Instead, he puts himself and his fragile ego first. It’s bad enough the democrats and media are coming after DeSantis, lying about him and smearing his character. But now Trump and his lackeys are going to join the fray from the other side. This is bad for the Republicans and ultimately bad for the country. The Democrats would never do this to their most promising hope for the future prospects of their party.
It’s not that I doubt Trump can fix the damage done by Biden. His policies have proven successful, whether economic or foreign affairs. But the question is whether or not he’s electable? DeSantis is both competent, successful AND electable. And he’s also taken on cultural issues head on and succeeded.
